How to install Moodle on subdomain?

moodle subdomain moodle on subdomain

In many cases people want to install Moodle on a subdomain, instead of a subdirectory as our Auto Installer allows.
Let's assume we've the domain name and we want to install Moodle on the subdomain "".

The first thing we need to do is create the subdomain "e-class".
This can be done by following:
Home > Hosting > > Domains > Subdomains

It's this section on your account's control panel:

Once you've created the subdomain you'll see something like that:

We're then ready to install Moodle via Auto Installer, which can be accessed at:
Home > Hosting > > Website > Auto Installer

We type "Moodle" on the search, click on its icon and then we configure the setup.
On the "Url" field we use the same name as the subdomain we created earlier, in this case "e-class" and we press on the Setup button.

A couple of minutes later the installation will be completed and Moodle will be accessible at, but we want it at instead.
No worries, changing this will be a piece of cake!

We will have to access our files by using File Manager of cpanel or an FTP client, whatever you prefer.
Once we're connected, we've to find the "config.php" file which should be in our case be placed at /public_html/e-class/config.php

We open it and we search for the line:

$CFG->wwwroot   = '';

and we simply change it to

$CFG->wwwroot   = '';

And that's it!
Your Moodle is now accessible on your subdomain! :)
